I got back from a pre-birthday lunch, have a slice of delicious chocolate cake slowly making its way to my thighs, and suddenly felt inspired to drag up a new journal entry.

Updates:
July 17-18- Went to the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert and had an absolute blast with *DarrinIthamar, ~Onelani and other, non-DA buddies. I have three words to sum up that weekend- "Another Andy Gump". I would update the actual San-Fran journal about it, but nothing I wrote would ever match the witty visual and written foreplay seen in Tsume's LiveJournal post. XD

August 6- Attended an orientation workshop at CSULB. After four years at a pretty darn big high school and two years at an art school that was just about the same size, trying to navigate my way through a 32k+ population university was, in a word, mind-boggling. Some of my classes are going to be larger than my graduating class had I finished my education at AI. For the record, I'm not the best at shining in crowds, so this'll take some getting used to. Tuitition's going to be eating me alive, I can tell you that.

August 13- Last day of summer classes. Only two- American Government and US History up to and through the Civil War. Apparently, "A's" in both of them, attributed solely to a portion of *mirzers's awesome that I had borrowed with permission days before my final exams. Thank you, Mir. :3

August 19- With the mother at my side, briefed a Study-Abroad workshop that was quite informative, and making me wish the junior year was over already so I can get started on the fun stuff. A year studying in Osaka- including tuition, airfare, room/board, food, health insurance and basic amenities- will net around $17k. Not at all a bad rate, but that being said... *falls to knees* God, please bring back the dollar.

Today- I've never been to Tortilla Flats before. Now I have. Not the greatest Mexican food I've ever had- the tortilla was over-cooked and too tough to cut even with a knife and the carne asada wasn't all that tender. But it was fun, enjoying time with the mother and the sibling. We rarely do that nowadays. And sitting right on the lakeside was fun. As they had both repeatedly reminded me, I have got to get a tan before the summer is over. After that, we all went home, I blew out the two candles we had on my oh-so-yummy box-mixed cake, and opened a handful of presents: a new steering wheel cover from my sister (THANK YOU, JORDAN!), and some clothes and my BEAUTIFUL buttery tan leather jacket from my mom (she knows my weakness for tailored/structured leather jackets- they make EVERYTHING look good). YAY! I wuv my family.

This Wednesday- My best friend, Jenn, is an actress performing in Pageant of the Masters, and as my only birthday request, she is scoring tickets for myself, Edward and Mr. Edward on my official birthday (she's Miss Fey in the King Kong exhibit, for anyone attending). Mother went on Friday and said the whole affair was amazing- I can't wait!

This Saturday- Nothing but cake, karaoke, and lots of lols. As *DarrinIthamar, ~Onelani and I share birthdays in the same month, we've made a habit of celebrating them all on the same day. This year's shindig involves Souplantation, Cosplay Karaoke, and a long-overdue housewarming party for *Etoli. YAY, PARTIES!
